写作 Writing Task 1 (letter)(formal) · 目标 170 词
You have seen an advertisement for a two-week computer course. Write a letter to the course provider. In your letter:
- explain why you are interested in the course
- ask about the course schedule and fees
- find out if any materials are included
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to enquire about the two-week computer course that was advertised in the local newspaper. I would be very grateful if you could provide me with further details.
I am currently working as a junior accounts clerk, and my employer has recently introduced new accounting software. As I have very little experience with this system, I believe the course would help me improve my skills and perform better at work. I was also told by a colleague that your training is highly practical, which is exactly what I need.
First of all, could you please tell me the exact dates of the next course and how many hours per week it involves? I would also like to know what the total fee is and whether there is a discount for early registration. Finally, I would appreciate it if you could let me know whether course materials are included in the price or if I need to bring my own laptop.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Marta Costa

口语 Speaking
Part 1
Q: Are you studying at the moment?
Yes, I'm taking an online business course. It's quite demanding, but I enjoy learning at my own pace.
💡 直接回答+课程类型+个人感受,用at my own pace展示词汇。
Q: What kind of courses do you find interesting?
I'm particularly keen on practical courses that can help me with my job, for example anything related to IT or data analysis.
💡 给出偏好,举例具体,用keen on和related to。
Part 2 · 提示卡
Describe a course you would like to do in the future. You should say: what the course is; where you would take it; what you would learn; and explain why you want to do it.
I’d like to talk about a photography course that I’ve been thinking about for a while. I would probably take it at a local art centre that offers evening classes, because that would fit around my job. The course would cover the basics, like how to use a camera properly, composition, and lighting. I’m not aiming to become a professional photographer, but I think it would be a really enjoyable hobby and a creative outlet. I also believe that learning a new skill, even if it’s not for work, keeps your brain active and reduces stress. The reason I haven’t done it yet is quite simple: I’ve had a busy schedule, and I keep putting it off. But hopefully next year I’ll finally book a place.
💡 四点全含,用二类条件(would be)、间接引语(I think it would…),自然流畅。
Part 3
Q: Do you think practical skills or academic knowledge is more important?
I think they’re both valuable, but it really depends on the situation. For example, if you want to become a doctor, academic knowledge is essential. But for many jobs, practical skills such as communication or problem-solving can be just as useful. Striking a balance is probably the best approach.
💡 两面权衡,用striking a balance,显示辩证思维。
Q: How important is it for schools to teach life skills?
I believe it’s becoming increasingly important. Things like managing money, cooking, or basic first aid are skills everyone needs, yet they are often not taught in traditional schools. If students were introduced to these early on, they would be better prepared for adult life.
