Passive with modals (can be used to)B1+

The app can be used to track your daily steps.
The screen should be cleaned carefully.

✗ The device can use to send messages.✓ The device can be used to send messages.
↑ 提分:可尝试使用其他情态动词,如 should be, must be 等。
Verb + -ing or to-infinitive (stop / remember)B1
stop doing 表示停止正在做的事,stop to do 表示停下来去做另一件事;remember doing 记得做过某事,remember to do 记得要去做某事。

Stop touching the screen if it is not working.
Remember to charge the battery before you go out.

✗ I stopped to check my emails every hour.✓ I stopped checking my emails every hour.

You recently bought a new tablet, but you are having problems with it. Write a letter to the store. In your letter: - explain when and where you bought it - describe the problem - say what you would like the store to do.
Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to report a problem with a tablet that I purchased from your store last Saturday. The model is a TechPro 10, and my receipt number is TP-2341. The issue is with the screen. When I try to use it, it often freezes or does not respond to touch. I have tried restarting the device several times, but the problem continues. I have also checked that the software is up to date, but this has not helped. This is very inconvenient, as I rely on the tablet for both work and study every day. I would be grateful if you could look into this matter. If possible, I would like to exchange the tablet for a new one, as I believe it is faulty. Alternatively, a full refund would be acceptable. I have attached a copy of my receipt for your reference. I hope to hear from you within the next week. Yours faithfully, Alex Li

口语 Speaking

Part 1

Q: How often do you use technology in your daily life?
I use technology every day. For example, I use my phone to check messages and my laptop to study. I think it's hard to imagine life without it.
Q: What is your favourite piece of technology?
Probably my smartphone. It's very useful because I can do many things with it, like taking photos, browsing the internet, and using maps. It helps me stay organised.
Q: Do you think you spend too much time on your phone?
Sometimes I do, especially when I'm bored. But I try to limit my screen time in the evening so I can sleep better.

Part 2 ·

Describe a useful electronic device you own. You should say: what it is, how often you use it, what you mainly use it for, and explain why it is important to you.
I'd like to talk about my tablet, which I bought about six months ago. I use it almost every day, mainly for reading e-books and watching online courses. It has a clear screen and a long battery life, so I can use it for hours without charging. One reason it's important is that it helps me study when I'm on the bus or in a café. I also use it to stay in touch with friends through video calls. Overall, it has become an essential part of my daily routine.

Part 3

Q: How has technology changed the way people communicate?
It has made communication much faster and easier. People can send messages instantly and make video calls across the world. However, some people feel that we now talk less face-to-face, which might affect relationships.
Q: Do you think older people find it difficult to use new technology?
Yes, I think many older people struggle because they did not grow up with it. For instance, my grandmother finds smartphones confusing. But with patient teaching, they can learn the basic functions.
