Indirect questionsB1+
陈述语序,使用 whether / if / wh-词,不用 do/does/did
比如不说 'Is the course full-time?',而说 'Could you tell me whether the course is full-time?'。在咨询信里,用 'I would like to know if ...' 或 'I wonder whether ...'

I would like to know whether the course is suitable for beginners.
Could you tell me what the tuition fee includes?

✗ Could you tell me what does the course cover?✓ Could you tell me what the course covers?
↑ 提分:再高一档可加入 'I would be grateful if you could...' 或 'I wonder if you could possibly...'
Question tagsB1
比如 'The course starts next Monday, doesn't it?' 或 'You haven't received my application, have you?'。

You offer evening classes, don't you?
She hasn't sent the brochure yet, has she?

✗ You are a student, isn't it?✓ You are a student, aren't you?
附加疑问的主语和助动词必须与主句一致:'You are' 对应 'aren't you?',不能用 'isn't it'。

You have seen an advertisement about a language course and you are interested. Write a letter to the language school. In your letter: - say which course you are interested in - ask about details such as timetable, fees and entry requirements - ask if there is an online option.
Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to inquire about the Business English course which was advertised on your website. I am very interested in this course and would like to obtain more information before I enrol. Firstly, I would like to know whether the course is available part-time, as I have a full-time job during the day. If so, could you provide details of the timetable and the days of the week? Additionally, I would be grateful if you could clarify what the total tuition fee is and if there are any additional costs for materials. I also need to find out about the entry requirements. Do I need a certain level of English, or is there a placement test I should take? Moreover, as I live quite far from the centre, I wonder if it is possible to take the course online instead. If you could send me a brochure or any relevant information, I would appreciate it. Please feel free to contact me by email at any time. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Mei-Ling Chen

语法“I would like to know whether the course is available part-time”间接问句,体现礼貌询问。
衔接“If so, could you provide details of the timetable”用条件句自然过渡,逻辑清晰。
词汇“I would be grateful if you could clarify”正式表达,比 'please tell me' 更礼貌。
任务“I wonder if it is possible to take the course online”询问在线选项,间接问句满足第三个任务要点。
任务“Yours faithfully”开头 Dear Sir or Madam 对应结尾 Yours faithfully,格式正确。
↑ 再上一档:再往上一档可使用更多样化的间接请求,如 'I would appreciate it if you could...',并尝试名词化表达(如 'clarification on the fee structure')以增加句式变化。

口语 Speaking

Part 1

Q: Do you enjoy learning new things?
Yes, I do. I like learning languages especially. It keeps my mind active and I enjoy finding out about different cultures.
Q: What kind of courses do you prefer: online or in person?
I think I prefer online courses at the moment because they are more flexible. You can study whenever you have time, and you don't need to travel. But I also like the classroom atmosphere, so it's hard to choose.
Q: Do you think it's important to get a certificate after a course?
It depends. If the course is for my career, then a certificate is important because it shows I have certain skills. But if I'm just learning for fun, then I don't mind not having one.

Part 2 ·

Describe a course you would like to study in the future. You should say: what the course is; where you heard about it; what you would learn; and explain why you want to take this course.
I'm going to talk about a photography course that I'd love to do. I first saw an advert for it on social media—it was from a local community college. The course is called 'Digital Photography for Beginners' and it lasts eight weeks. I think I would learn how to use a camera properly, how to take better portraits and maybe how to edit photos with software. I've always been interested in photography, but I only use my phone and my pictures are never very good. So I want to understand techniques like lighting and composition. The main reason I want to do this course is because I think it would help me take better photos for my blog. I also believe it would be a fun way to meet new people who share the same interest. It seems like a good way to spend my free time and maybe I could even sell my photos in the future.

Part 3

Q: Why do some people choose to study online rather than in a classroom?
I think one major reason is convenience. With online courses, you can fit study around your work schedule and you don't have to commute. Also, many online courses are cheaper, which is attractive. However, some people lack self-discipline and find it hard to stay motivated without a teacher and classmates around them.
Q: Is it better to study one subject in depth or several subjects at the same time?
It probably depends on the person and the stage of education. When you're younger, it might be better to study several subjects to have a broad knowledge. But later, specialising in one area can lead to expert skills and better job opportunities. So I think at university level, in-depth study is more useful.

I would be grateful if you could...
Could you tell me more about...
Can I ask whether...

使用间接问句(如 'I would like to know if...')
