While some people believe volunteering should be voluntary, others think it should be made compulsory for young people.
Whereas some charities focus on providing immediate relief, others aim for long-term development.
✗ While some people like dogs, but others prefer cats. → ✓ While some people like dogs, others prefer cats.
↑ 提分:再高一档可以使用 'whereas' 更正式,并尝试将对比融入更复杂的句子结构中,如 'Whereas the short-term costs may be high, the long-term gains are considerable.'

Volunteers Wanted: Help at the Community Food Bank
Our community food bank, run by the local charity Share & Care, is looking for volunteers to help us support families in need. We urgently need extra pairs of hands, especially on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Tasks mainly involve sorting and organising donated food items, preparing parcels, and assisting with distribution to visitors. No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided. All you need is a friendly attitude and a willingness to help.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. If you are interested, please attend our information session on Saturday 10 June at 11 a.m. at the food bank, or email us at volunteers@shareandcare.org. Please note that a police check is necessary for all volunteers; we will guide you through this process.
Even if you can only spare a couple of hours a week, your time can make a real difference.

Sam
G'day everyone, and thanks for coming along to learn about volunteering with our animal rescue group. My name's Sam, and I'm here to give you a quick overview of what we do and how you can get involved.
Sam
We run three main programmes: dog walking for the local shelter, fostering kittens, and helping at our charity shop. Most volunteers start with dog walking, because it's the easiest to fit into a busy schedule. You just need to be available for two hours a week, and we ask for a minimum commitment of three months.
Sam
If you're interested in fostering, you'll need a bit more preparation. We provide all the food and supplies, but you do need a spare room or a secure outdoor area for the animals. Training sessions for foster carers are held on the first Saturday of every month.
Sam
Now, our charity shop is run entirely by volunteers. It's open Tuesday to Saturday, from 9 till 5, and we need helpers for any of those days. It's a great way to gain retail experience while supporting a good cause.
Sam
Before you leave, make sure you pick up an application form from the front desk. Once we receive your form, we'll invite you for a brief interview. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to speak to me or any of the other volunteers here today.

Some people believe that volunteering should be mandatory for young people. Others think it should be a personal choice. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
The question of whether volunteering should be compulsory for young people is widely debated. While some believe it should be a requirement, others argue that it must remain a personal decision. I will discuss both sides before giving my own view.
On the one hand, those in favour of mandatory volunteering point to its social benefits. They argue that if all young people volunteered, communities would receive much-needed help, and the volunteers themselves would develop valuable skills such as teamwork and communication. Additionally, compulsory volunteering could expose teenagers to social issues they might otherwise ignore, fostering a sense of responsibility.
On the other hand, opponents claim that forcing people to volunteer takes away the very meaning of volunteering. Admittedly, a mandatory programme would increase participation, but it might also lead to resentment and a lack of genuine commitment. Volunteering is based on altruism; if it becomes an obligation, the spirit of generosity could be lost. Furthermore, personal choice ensures that only those who are truly motivated get involved, which often results in higher-quality work and a more positive experience for all.
In my opinion, while the idea of mandatory volunteering has good intentions, I believe it is better to keep it as a personal choice. However, schools and communities can strongly encourage young people to participate by providing attractive opportunities and recognising their efforts. This way, more young people will choose to volunteer willingly, gaining the benefits without feeling forced.
In conclusion, although mandatory volunteering could bring short-term benefits, the long-term value of volunteering is best preserved when it comes from the heart.
TA/CC“While some believe it should be a requirement, others argue that it must remain a personal decision.”
语法“Admittedly, a mandatory programme would increase participation, but it might also lead to resentment...”
词汇“expose teenagers to social issues they might otherwise ignore, fostering a sense of responsibility”搭配 expose...to 和分词形式 fostering,词汇使用精准。
衔接“In my opinion, while the idea of mandatory volunteering has good intentions, I believe...”用 'In my opinion' 和 while 从句自然过渡到个人观点,衔接连贯。
词汇“when it comes from the heart”地道表达,避免生硬,提升词汇印象。
Speaking
Part 1
Q: Have you ever taken part in any volunteer work?
Yes, I have. Last year, I helped out at a local charity shop every weekend. It was mainly sorting donations and serving customers, and I really enjoyed the experience because I felt like I was making a difference.
Q: Would you be interested in doing volunteer work in the future?
Definitely. I think volunteering is a great way to gain new skills and meet people from different backgrounds. In the future, I'd love to get involved in an environmental project, perhaps something like tree planting or beach clean-ups.
💡 'get involved in' 和 'perhaps' 展示自然表达和虚拟意向。
Part 2 ·
Describe a volunteering experience that you have had or would like to have. You should say: what the volunteering activity was or would be; when and where it took place or would take place; why you chose or would choose this activity; and explain how you felt or would feel about this experience.
I'd like to talk about a volunteering experience I would like to have in the future. I've always been interested in animal welfare, so I'd love to volunteer at an animal shelter. I would probably do this on weekends, at a shelter near my city. The main reason I chose this is that I love animals and I want to help those that have been abandoned. I think taking care of them, walking dogs and cleaning their spaces would be both rewarding and meaningful. I imagine it would be very satisfying to see the animals happy and healthy. Although I haven't done it yet, I believe it would give me a great sense of purpose and allow me to give back to the community.
💡 用 would 表达假想志愿经历,cover 四点,使用 rewarding, sense of purpose, give back 等词汇。
Part 3
Q: Why do you think some people choose to volunteer?
There are many reasons. Some people volunteer because they want to give back to society and help those less fortunate. Others see it as a chance to learn new skills and improve their CV. For many, it's also a social activity where they can meet like-minded people and feel part of a community.
Q: Do you think schools should require students to do volunteer work?
I think it could be beneficial, but it shouldn't be forced. While requiring community service might expose students to important issues, making it mandatory could reduce the genuine desire to help. I believe schools should offer opportunities and encourage participation, but keep it voluntary.
give back to society — 回馈社会
a sense of purpose — 目标感

写作时先列双方观点,再用 While/Admittedly 自然过渡;口语回答时用 'Having said that' 或 'That said' 展示思考深度。
