Good afternoon, and welcome. Today I'm going to explain the different accounts we offer and how to manage your money with us.
Bank Officer
First, our 'Easy Saver' account. You can open it with just £10, and it pays 1.5 percent interest. You can add money at any time, but you can only withdraw twice a month without losing interest.
Bank Officer
Next, the 'High Interest' account. It pays three percent, but you must give 60 days' notice before you take money out.
Bank Officer
We also have a 'Student Saver'. It's similar to the Easy Saver, but there is no minimum opening amount, and there are no withdrawal limits. You do need a valid student ID.
Bank Officer
Now, about security—never share your PIN with anyone. The bank will never ask for your full PIN by phone or email. If you notice a transaction you don't recognise, contact us immediately.
Bank Officer
Finally, you can manage all your accounts on our app. You can check balances, make transfers, and even pay in cheques by taking a photo.
You have discovered an error on your bank statement. Write a letter to the bank manager. In your letter:
- explain when you noticed the error
- describe the error and the amount involved
- say what action you would like the manager to take.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to bring to your attention an error that appeared on my most recent statement, which I received on June 10.
My account name is Clare Williams, and the sort code is 12-34-56. On June 5, a withdrawal of £150 was taken from my account, but I am certain that I did not make this transaction. I was in a different city on that day and have not used my card. The same amount also appeared again on June 7, making a total of £300.
I believe this could be a case of fraud or a system mistake. I have already checked my online transactions, but there is no further information.
I would be grateful if you could investigate this matter urgently and refund the £300 as soon as possible. If you require any further details, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your help. I look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully,
Clare Williams
任务“I am writing to bring to your attention an error...”
衔接“I am certain that I did not make this transaction.”
语法“I believe this could be a case of fraud or a system mistake.”

Speaking
Part 1
Q: Do you often go to a bank?
Not very often. I do most of my banking online, but I go to the branch if I need to deposit cash or speak to someone in person.
Q: Is it better to save money or spend it?
I think it's important to do both. Saving means you have money for the future, but spending on things you enjoy can also make life better. So it depends.
Q: Have you ever had a problem with your bank?
Yes, once. My card stopped working suddenly, and I couldn't buy anything. I called the bank, and they found out that someone had tried to use my details. They sent me a new card the next day.
Part 2 ·
Describe a time when you had to use a bank service. You should say:
- what service you used
- when and where it happened
- what you had to do
- and explain how you felt about the experience.
A few months ago, I needed to send some money to my parents, who live abroad. I went to a local branch because I wasn't sure how to do an international transfer online. The assistant helped me fill in a form with the recipient's bank details, including the IBAN and sort code. I also had to show my ID. It took about twenty minutes. I felt a bit nervous because I'd never done it before, but the staff were friendly and explained everything clearly. In the end, it was successful and the money arrived in two days. I was relieved and thought that sometimes face-to-face service is more reassuring than online banking.
Q: Do you think cash will disappear in the future?
It might happen, but not soon. In many countries, people already use cards or phones to pay, especially in cities. However, cash is still important for older people and in small shops. So it might disappear slowly, but probably not completely for a long time.
Q: Why do some people worry about online banking?
I think it's mainly because of security. People hear about fraud, and they are afraid that someone could steal their money or personal details. Also, some people are not very confident with technology, so they prefer to go to a branch where they can talk to a real person.
