Polite expressions: would like / I am writing toB1
I would like to + 动词原形 / I am writing to + 动词原形(用于正式信件开头)
在求职信等正式信件中,用「I am writing to」开头表明写信目的,用「I would like to」表达想要做的事,比直接用「I want」更礼貌得体。

例句

I am writing to apply for the position of sales assistant.
I would like to thank you for considering my application.

✗ I want to apply for the job.✓ I would like to apply for the job.
I am interested in the role because...
Indirect questions (Could you tell me if...)B1+
Could you tell me if/whether + 从句(用陈述语序) / Could you let me know + 疑问词 + 从句(陈述语序)
直接问是'When is the interview?',间接问是'Could you tell me when the interview is?'

例句

Could you tell me if there are any vacancies at the moment?
I would like to know when the closing date is.

✗ Could you tell me is there a vacancy?✓ Could you tell me if there is a vacancy?
I wonder if you could tell me...

You have seen an advertisement for a part-time customer service assistant at a local shop. Write a letter to the manager. In your letter: - say which job you are applying for - describe your relevant experience and skills - explain why you want the job
Dear Ms Taylor, I am writing to apply for the part-time customer service assistant position advertised on your website. I believe my experience and skills make me a strong candidate for this role. I have over two years of experience in retail sales, having worked at a busy clothing store in the city centre. In that role, I assisted customers, handled cash and dealt with returns. I also developed excellent communication and teamwork skills, and I was often praised for my friendly manner. I am very reliable and always arrive on time for my shifts. The main reason I am interested in this job is that I enjoy helping people and I am keen to work in a local shop where I can get to know regular customers. I am also looking for part-time work that fits around my studies, so the hours you advertised would suit me well. I have attached my CV for your consideration. I would be happy to attend an interview at any time convenient to you. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely, Joanna Booth

口语 Speaking

Part 1

Q: What kind of job would you like to have in the future?
I hope to work in a field that helps people, perhaps in healthcare or education. I think I would find that very rewarding.
💡 用hope to和would find展示对未来的想法,使用that关系从句。
Q: Have you ever had a part-time job?
Yes, I have. Last summer I worked in a café for two months. It was quite tiring, but I learned how to deal with customers and work in a team.
💡 现在完成开头+过去式细节,使用deal with和work in a team等工作词汇。
Q: Is it important to enjoy your job?
Definitely. If you enjoy what you do, you are more motivated and you do a better job. However, I understand that sometimes people just need to earn money, even if the work isn't perfect.

Part 2 ·

Describe a job you would like to do in the future. You should say: what the job is; what you would do in that job; what skills or qualifications you need; and explain why you find this job interesting.
I’d like to talk about being a primary school teacher, which is a job I have thought about for a long time. As a teacher, I would prepare lessons, teach children different subjects and help them develop their social skills. I would also need to work closely with parents and other teachers. To become a teacher, you usually need a university degree in education and a teaching qualification. You also need to be very patient and creative. I find this job interesting because I love working with young children and I enjoy seeing them learn new things. It’s very satisfying when a child understands something for the first time. I think teaching would be challenging, but it would also be very rewarding.

Part 3

Q: What are the most common ways to find a job in your country?
Many people look for jobs online these days, using websites or social media. Another common method is through friends and family, because someone they know might recommend a position. Some older people still check newspaper advertisements, but that’s less popular now.
Q: Do you think it is important to change jobs often in a career?
It depends. Some people change jobs often to get higher salaries or learn new skills, and that can be good for their career. However, if you stay in the same company for a long time, you might get more promotions and become an expert in your area. I think both paths have advantages.
💡 使用It depends,if条件句和both paths have advantages展示两面分析。

(Could you let me know...);②口语Part 2多用would表达假设情境,并适当加入because和if;③主动使用本课主题词汇(如qualification, position, deadline)替代简单词。
