have to / don't have to (obligation)B1
主语 + have/has to + 动词原形;否定 don't/doesn't have to
have to 表示因为规定或情况而「必须」;don't have to 表示「不必、没有必要」。
You have to make an appointment before you see the doctor.
You don't have to bring your own medicine. The pharmacy gives it to you.
✗ You don't have to smoke here. → ✓ You mustn't smoke here.
「禁止」要用 mustn't;don't have to 是「不必」,意思完全不同。
↑ 提分:再高一档可换用 be required to / be supposed to 使语气更正式。
must / mustn't (obligation and prohibition)B1
must 表示说话人认为很必要,语气比 have to 强;mustn't 表示「不准、禁止」。

You mustn't eat anything before the test.
✗ You haven't to park here. → ✓ You mustn't park here.

You are feeling unwell. Write a letter to Dr. Miller at your local clinic. In your letter:
- describe your symptoms
- ask for an appointment
- ask if you need to do anything before the visit.
Dear Dr. Miller,
I am writing to ask if I can see you because I am not feeling well.
For the past three days, I have had a high fever and a very bad cough. My head hurts a lot and I also feel tired all the time. I think I may have the flu. I tried to rest at home but I am not getting better. I am a bit worried because I need to go back to work next week.
Could I come to the clinic on Thursday afternoon? I am free after 2 p.m. If that day is not good, please tell me when I can come. I can come any day this week after 1 p.m. If possible, I would like an appointment as soon as possible.
Also, I would like to know if I need to do anything before my visit. Do I need to stop eating or drinking? Do I need to bring any papers or my medical card? I have my medical card here, but I am not sure if I need anything else.
Thank you for your help. I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Alex Johnson

任务“I have had a high fever and a very bad cough.”
衔接“If that day is not good, please tell me when I can come.”
语法“Do I need to stop eating or drinking?”
↑ 再上一档:再往上一档,可加入更具体的词汇(如 persistent cough、fatigue、nausea),使用更丰富的连接词(however、in addition),并尝试用间接疑问句(I was wondering if...)等。
口语 Speaking
Part 1
Q: Do you often see a doctor?
Not very often. I only go when I am really sick, like when I have a high fever or a bad cough.
Q: What do you do to stay healthy?
I try to eat well and sleep enough. I also go for a walk every day because it is good for me.
Q: Have you ever been to hospital?
Yes, once I had to go to hospital because I broke my arm. It was a few years ago.
Part 2 ·
Describe a time you were ill. You should say: when it was; what illness you had; how you felt; and explain what you did to get better.
I remember I was ill last winter. I had a bad cold and a fever. At first, I just had a headache and my nose was running. Then I started to feel very hot and cold at the same time. I felt terrible and could not go to work. I stayed at home and rested for a few days. I drank a lot of water and took some medicine that my mother gave me. After about a week, I felt better. I learned that it is important to rest when you are ill.
Part 3
Q: Do you think people should go to the doctor for minor problems like a cold?
I don't think so. For a small cold, people can rest at home and take some medicine from the chemist. Doctors are busy and they need to see patients with more serious problems.
Q: Is healthcare in your country expensive?
It depends. Some people have insurance, so it is not very expensive for them. But for people without insurance, it can cost a lot. I think more should be done to help everyone.
