The passive voiceB2
be + 过去分词(+ by ...)
The rules were changed last year. / Staff are expected to arrive on time.

New safety rules have been introduced this month.
Employees are encouraged to work from home twice a week.

✗ The report was wrote by the manager.✓ The report was written by the manager.
(It is widely believed that... / It has been argued that...)。
Second conditional (unreal present)B2
If + 过去式, 主语 + would/could + 动词原形
If companies offered flexible hours, staff would be happier.

If I had more free time, I would take an online course.
Productivity would improve if workers were given more control over their schedule.

✗ If I would have more time, I would travel.✓ If I had more time, I would travel.
(If they had planned better, they would not be in this situation now)。

Staff Notice: Changes to the Flexible Working Scheme
STAFF NOTICE — FLEXIBLE WORKING UPDATE From 1 April, the company is introducing changes to the flexible working scheme. These changes have been approved by the board and will apply to all employees who have completed their probationary period. Under the new policy, staff may request to work from home for up to three days per week. Requests should be submitted to your line manager at least two weeks in advance. However, employees are still expected to attend the office on Mondays for team meetings. This is to maintain regular face-to-face communication and ensure that projects stay on schedule. Anyone who works remotely must ensure they have a reliable internet connection. The company will provide necessary equipment, such as a laptop and headset, but staff are responsible for arranging their own workspace. Those who need ergonomic chairs or additional monitors can apply through the health and safety department. Please note that working hours remain unchanged: core hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with flexible start and finish times outside this period. The new scheme will be reviewed after six months, and feedback will be collected from all staff.

Some people think that companies should provide free gym memberships to employees to improve health and productivity. Others argue that it is a waste of money. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
In recent years, the idea of offering free gym memberships at work has gained attention. While some believe it is a worthwhile investment, others consider it an unnecessary expense. I personally think that such schemes can bring real benefits, but only if they are carefully designed. On the one hand, providing gym access can improve staff wellbeing. If employees exercise regularly, they are likely to be healthier and take fewer sick days, which in turn boosts productivity. Regular physical activity also helps reduce stress, so workers may feel more focused and motivated at work. Therefore, the company could benefit from lower healthcare costs and higher output. On the other hand, critics argue that this is not a company’s responsibility and that the money could be spent on more useful things, such as better equipment or salary increases. Many people already have their own fitness routines and may not use a gym at work, so the subsidy would be wasted. Additionally, a gym membership does not guarantee improved health if staff simply do not go. In my opinion, a free gym membership can be a good perk, but it should be optional and part of a wider health programme. Companies could survey employees first to see if there is enough interest, and perhaps offer a subsidy rather than paying the full cost. That way, the scheme is more likely to be used and appreciated. In conclusion, while there are valid arguments on both sides, I believe that a well-planned gym membership programme can be a smart investment in employee health and productivity.

口语 Speaking

Part 1

Q: Do you work or are you a student?
I work full-time as a sales assistant at a clothing store. I've been there for about eighteen months, and I really enjoy the fast-paced environment. Even though the workload can be heavy on weekends, it's rewarding when customers leave happy.
Q: Would you like to change your job in the future?
Yes, eventually. I'd love to move into marketing, which I studied at college. If I could find a marketing assistant role, I would definitely apply for it. I think I'd prefer the variety and the chance to be more creative.

Part 2 ·

Describe a job you would like to do in the future. You should say: what the job is; what skills it needs; why it appeals to you; and explain whether it would be easy to get.
A job I'm really interested in is being a graphic designer. I've always loved drawing and technology, and graphic design seems like the perfect mix. To do it well, you'd need to be creative, obviously, but also have strong technical skills with design software. You'd also need patience and good communication because clients often change their minds. What appeals to me most is the freedom it offers—many designers work freelance, so they can choose their own hours and projects. Also, seeing your work appear on websites or in print must be very satisfying. As for how easy it is to get into, I don't think it's straightforward because there is a lot of competition. But if I built a strong portfolio and got some experience through internships, I believe I could break into the field. So it's challenging but definitely possible if you're determined.
💡 四点全部覆盖;使用第二条件句(you'd need)、关系从句(which)、假设结构(if I built...);词汇如 freelance, portfolio, break into 切合主题,时长约2分钟。

Part 3

Q: Why do some people prefer to work from home?
There are several reasons. For many, the biggest advantage is avoiding a long commute, which saves time and reduces stress. Others simply concentrate better in a quiet environment without office noise. However, I think it depends a lot on the type of job—some roles need constant teamwork, so remote work isn't ideal for everyone.
Q: Do you think technology has made our working lives easier or harder?
It's a bit of both, honestly. On the positive side, technology allows us to work anywhere and communicate instantly with colleagues around the world. On the other hand, it can mean that we're expected to be available all the time, so the line between work and personal life gets blurred. Overall, I'd say it's made us more efficient but also created higher expectations.
💡 两面讨论,用 On the other hand 和 Overall 进行总结,使用本课词汇 efficient 和 blurred。
